Plaid speed (beyond ludicrous)

Starting January 1st, we will offer true 2.5gbit symmetrical speeds for customers who are lucky enough to be on the KPUD XGS-PON system.

This is an insanely high amount of bandwidth. In order to migrate to the service, Net253 will have to come out, reconfigure the KPUD gray box, and run a speed certification.

We are going to charge a $125 setup fee. We need to collect enough revenue in installs to buy a $4,000 network performance tester. The network tester we want to buy isn’t released yet. The “lame one” we can buy today is $3,000 but doesn’t support WiFi 7. Update - EXFO is selling us an early access unit with WiFI 7 support enabled for “just” $3,025.25.

xFinity in Kitsap charges $140/month for 1.2gb down / 0.3gb up (after promotions expire), so we feel OK at $150/month for 2.5gbit symmetrical without promotion hassles.

If you are lucky enough to have access and crazy enough to want this, we will bring it on for you. But be ready with your wallet as your home networking gear is very unlikely up to the task.

It is also very possible you home simple cannot support over 1gbit on the built in network cabling, depending on the age of the home.

If we have to do everything wirelessly, there are ways, but it costs money (eero max 7 units are $400 per)

We will provide you an customized estimate of what it will take to get this into your home and distributed to your devices. We will offer 2 levels of insanity.

  • Sensible insanity - multi-gigabit distribution through media panel, endpoints re-use as much as possible (Wireless Access Points)

  • Full insanity - everything setup for mulit-gig to all access points/wall plates
