We are "surfing" our own wavelength of light

This morning (6/27) we completed the transition of our core router to BGP enabled routing. We now transit out of Kitsap on a dedicated wavelength of light on a submarine fiber from Bremerton directly to the Westin in Seattle.

We now have redundant paths out of Kitsap, but we have not quite achieved true redundancy. True redundancy will happen once NoaNet and KPUD create a second Network-Network-Interface (NNI) in Kitsap. Or we find another tail circuit solution…

We have been working with Cogent (#3 internet carrier for the world) and Comcast to implement an alternate solution to transit out of Kitsap. Comcast has been unable to determine a solution that meets the funding constraints they agreed to when we signed a contract in December of ‘21.
